About us
The Kentucky Kajun is a log style cabin on the banks of beautiful Barren River Lake. It can sleep 14 adventurous souls and is often our family get away as well.
We moved to Kentucky from Louisiana in 2021 and wanted to share a love for our new home and the surrounding woods and waters of the Commonwealth. We still have gumbo and Mardi Gras in our blood, so you might see a few trinkets from the Bayou scattered about when you come!
A few things we’re great at
Unlike many Short-term rentals owned by franchises or out-of-town investors, this is our vacation home too. We take pride in making your stay the best we can. That’s why we have so many happy repeat guests!
Cleanliness
Its a cabin in nature with lots of folks in and out, but hey, we stay there too and we have a full team to clean it the best we can. We know how much that matters to you!
Communication
Our Host, is well, us. The owners. We don’t form this out to a company with multiple properties to manage. You will have access to someone that truly cares.
Amenities
From firewood, to kayaks, to kitchen items, to games. We try to think of everything you need. If you need something else, we will get it for you!
Barren River Lake
BRL is a Corp of Engineer managed watershed lake consisting of 10,000 acres of surface area at summer pool. Fed by Barren River, it boasts several marinas and recreational areas.
Activities are fishing, boating, water sports, hunting and simply enjoying nature from its many view points.
Local Interests
From Bourbon to Caves to Corvettes, there is lots to do in the area. If you want a break from the lake life for a day then head to one of the many attractions.

If you are a cave seeker then you are in the right place. Mammoth caves are the biggest mapped cave system in the World!

VROOM If you are a Vette enthusiast. Well, this is the town for you. From the motor track to the museum you will really enjoy the visit.
Visit Bowling Green
BG is the home of Western Kentucky University , Lost River cave, and many other local attractions. From Amish stores to kayak ready creeks, check with us on where you can visit!
Bourbon Adventures
Lets face it. Great Bourbon starts in and ends in Kentucky. While many of the distilleries are an hour North, many folks hub out of the Kajun for day trips
It’s all about the Lake(s)
If you are a boater or a fisherman, you may be interested in a few lakes in the area. Some visit 3-4 lakes in a week fishing trip all from our cabin.
